One day, I found a welt on my right hand. A small red mark under my finger. I didn\u2019t know what had happened. But the welt was small and painless so I let it go thinking it would just go away. He sells tea on the streets of Kolkata. Harishankar has a family of four. His two children are students and the wife is a homemaker. He is the sole earner of the family. \u201cI am very poor. I roam around the streets with my kettle and sell tea to the passerby. If I cannot work, my family will starve\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Harishankar went to see the local doctor who immediately referred him to the government hospital. He visited the hospital on 4 December 2020. The hospital did a surgery. The wound was filled with blood and puss that needed to be drained.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/dmg.org.in\/calcuttarescue\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2021-01-08-at-2.12.47-PM-225x300-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 225px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 225\/300;\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/dmg.org.in\/calcuttarescue\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2021-01-08-at-2.12.47-PM-225x300-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe hospital did my surgery and prescribed medicines, but they were expensive and I could not buy them. They also told me to do regular dressings but said they won\u2019t provide them. Dressing outside is expensive for me. Then I came to Calcutta Rescue.\u201d Harishankar mentioned, \u201cThe hospital referred me here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On 9 December 2020 he came to Nimtala clinic. He was immediately provided with medicines and dressing materials. He was taught how to do it at home as well. After one month Calcutta Rescue is proud to say, Harishankar is out of danger.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s very happy now. \u201cThe doctors and staff helped me a lot.
