Kaikasha came to Calcutta Rescue\u2019s No. 10 education centre when she was just 4 years old. She studied there for 15 years, and it made a big difference. She lives close to the No. 10 centre with her parents and two siblings. Her dad sells fruits. Her little brother had to stop school early to work, collecting old clothes and selling them to a thrift store.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/dmg.org.in\/calcuttarescue\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Kaikasha-1-461x1024-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"217\" height=\"481\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 217px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 217\/481;\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/dmg.org.in\/calcuttarescue\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Kaikasha-1-461x1024-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"217\" height=\"481\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>\u201cKaikasha has always been a dedicated student. She worked hard,\u201d said Priyanka, the head of the No. 10 centre. \u201cAnd it\u2019s not just her studies; she\u2019s an amazing dancer and participates in cultural events.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Calcutta Rescue brought out the best in Kaikasha. She said, \u201cWithout Calcutta Rescue\u2019s help, I wouldn\u2019t have known I could be self-sufficient, that I can achieve something.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kaikasha chose to study commerce for higher education. After her class 12 exams, she started college and also wanted a part-time job.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUsually, at my age, many girls get married, but Calcutta Rescue taught me to be independent and support myself first. That\u2019s what I wanted,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She asked for help to get training, and Calcutta Rescue\u2019s vocational training manager, Tuli, arranged a one-year Advanced Diploma course in Financial Accountancy for her. Kaikasha excelled in her training, and on July 13, 2023, she began working part-time at an accounting firm, earning 8000 rupees each month. This helped improve her family\u2019s meagre income.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kaikasha\u2019s journey is a wonderful example of how hard work and education can transform a person\u2019s life. She not only improved her own life but also financially supported her family.
