needed humanitarian services that enables our less-acknowledged counterparts to break free from the shackles of socio-economic hindrances and create dignified living status for themselves.\n<br>\nHeadquartered and operational in and around Kolkata, Calcutta Rescue is one of the most credible grassroot NGOs in Kolkata. It was founded by British physician, Dr Jack Preger. He began his work on the pavements of Kolkata 40 years ago and established Calcutta Rescue as a registered Society in 1991. Since then, it has grown to over 200 compassionate employees serving over 50,000 impoverished and destitute people. Narrowing it to Kolkata, reportedly, a third of its residents live in slums.
